Ordained at Glastonbury, Connecticut in October 1728; served as Chaplain of a Connecticut Regiment in the French war; and was Fellow of Yale College 1755 to 1758. The memorial on his tomb reads: "Here lies interred ye body of the Revd. Mr. Ashbel Woodbridge, A great scholar, an excellent divine, a faithful minister, a wise peace-maker, he shone with uncommon lusture in every station of life untill he fell asleep August 6, 1758, in the 55th year of his life and the 30th of his ministry." |
